The Colour Palette
Choose 2–3 complementary shades rather than everyone wearing the exact same colour. Neutrals and soft earth tones keep the focus on your family's faces.
Classic Elegance
Stick to simple, classic clothing and soft textures. Avoid large logos and busy patterns that distract from genuine expressions.
Get Comfortable
Arrive a few minutes early so little ones can settle into the studio. A rested, snack-fed child makes for the happiest photos.
Family Portrait FAQ
How long does a family portrait session take?
Sessions are private and by appointment. Choose a 30-minute session (The Portrait Session and The Family Collection) or a 60-minute session (The Heirloom Collection). We work at your family's pace, so everyone, from toddlers to grandparents, has time to relax.
What should our family wear?
Please bring your own outfits, as we do not supply clothing. Choose two or three complementary shades rather than matching exactly. Neutrals, soft earth tones and jewel tones look beautiful in our studio. Avoid large logos and busy patterns so the focus stays on your faces.
What if my children won't sit still or cooperate?
Don't worry, we work with high-energy children every day. We use a mix of posed and candid photography and let the session unfold naturally, because a relaxed environment gives the most genuine smiles.
Can we include our family dog?
Yes. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in our Halifax studio. Just let us know in advance so we can prepare the space for your furry family member.
Do you provide digital files and prints?
Every collection includes fine art prints. High-resolution digital files with a print release are sold separately and can be added to any collection for $95 each. Additional prints and custom sizes are available too.
